West Midlands School Leaders Conference 2018

The School Led System – Getting Down to Business

On Friday 18th May school leaders from across the region will once again gather for the West Midlands School Leaders Annual Conference: The School Led System – Getting Down to Business, #WMschooled.

Launched in 2015, and now the most anticipated West Midlands school leaders event of the year, #WMschoolled will attract the cream of senior educational leaders and decision makers, all keen to tackle the burning issues surrounding the school leadership system.

Last year was all about empowering delegates to get involved and shape the evolving educational landscape. This year is different. Change IS happening. Therefore, leaders need to be fully equipped to manage the latest developments. For senior school staff, finding real solutions to make positive differences in the classroom environment is crucial.

Organised by the Teaching Schools Council (TSC), #WMschoolled will once again be hosted by BBC Midlands Today presenter Mary Rhodes and will be chaired by Richard Gill, CEO of The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership and TSC Member for the West Midlands. The Keynote Speeches will be delivered by Geoff Barton, General Secretary for the Association of School & College Leaders (ASCL), Professor Dame Alison Peacock, Chief Executive, Chartered College of Teaching and Sir Christopher Stone, Chief Education Officer, MENASA and Deputy Chairman, Academic Council. In addition, Professor Mick Waters will deliver his reflections on the day – summarising the key takeaway points and highlights that delegates will leave with, to help propel them into action.

#WMschoolled is designed to educate, encourage and motivate primary and secondary school leaders, educationalists, governors and local authority leaders from across the region. The Conference itself is also moving up a gear. At this year’s event there will be no exhibition, less time spent listening to speakers and more opportunities to engage with experts in interactive workshops. There will, however, still be an opportunity to strengthen networks in the eight West Midlands sub-regional groups, which will be invaluable in the development of more local and relevant approaches.

Richard Gill, the West Midlands Representative of the TSC and Kelvin Peel, West Midlands Regional Coordinator of the TSC agreed: “In 20 years’ time school leaders are going to look back at the legacy we have left behind. A school led system, which seeks to see every child attending a good or outstanding school, is giving us the opportunity to create inspirational futures for all of our young people whilst empowering the system to do what is right. Our comprehensive Leadership Learning Event will empower senior staff to take their school to the next level”.

The conference will be held at The Chateau Impney Hotel & Exhibition Centre in Worcestershire and is sponsored Babcock Prime & Design 3i. Other sponsorship packages are available.

Registrations are being taken via the official conference website www.wmschoolled.co.uk
