Free Governor training workshops for every school

The DfE have made provision for every school in the country to send 3 governors completely FREE of charge to 4 workshops on Performance Related Pay; Financial Efficiency; Forming and joining a MAT and Disadvantaged pupils (pupil premium). Each workshop lasts two and a half hours.

Any governor can attend these workshops and they can chose to attend all the workshops.

The training is being provided by Edge Hill University, in partnership with BTSA.

Dates and workshop details

These governor workshops are available in your area on the following dates:

Workshop 1: Financial Efficiency

  • Date: 7 March 2017, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
  • Location: Belgrave St. Bartholomew’s Academy

Do you understand:

  • Your role in terms of efficiency and good financial management, including the importance of the “challenge” function?
  • How to interpret relevant financial and other performance data?

Workshop 2: Disadvantaged Pupils: what governors need to know and do (Pupil Premium)

  • Date: 28 March 2017, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
  • Location: Belgrave St. Bartholomew’s Academy

Do you understand:

  • The role of the governing body and its accountability for Pupil Premium?
  • What data is available and how to ask the right questions?

Workshop 3: Forming and joining a MAT

  • Date: 4 April 2017, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
  • Location: Belgrave St. Bartholomew’s Academy

Do you understand:

  • Your roles and responsibilities as a governor of a MAT?
  • How to form or join an effective MAT?

Workshop 4: Performance Related Pay

  • Date: 25 April 2017, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
  • Location: Belgrave St. Bartholomew’s Academy

Do you understand:

  • Your responsibilities with Performance Related Pay for teaching staff?
  • How to implement a PRP policy?
