This interactive session will delve into the essential skills of phonemic, morphemic and etymological approaches to spelling and aims to increase teachers’ repertoire of activities to teach spelling. The course will be run by Janet Gough,

Course Content

  • Understand how children learn to spell
  • Exploration of the English spelling system
  • Consideration of the expectations for spelling within the National Curriculum

Janet will also provide practical activities to develop skills related to:

  • Phonics
  • Orthography
  • Morphology
  • Etymology
